St. Pius V Catholic School is a part of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston. As a Catholic School, we hold and teach the doctrines of the Catholic Church. In accordance with the Christian philosophy and goals of St. Pius V School, religious education is essential and integral component of the curriculum. Students begin the school day in morning prayer and religion is taught daily. Teachers lead students in preparation of the liturgy for weekly mass.
The purpose of this requirement is to experience growth in spirituality, realize the satisfaction received when giving of oneself, the assistance a particular service offers another, and to promote a feeling of being a peacemaker that accompanies service performances.
The students have required service learning hours to complete. Service to others is at the heart of the Catholic faith, and it is part of our mission. We believe that the spiritual growth students experience as they give of themselves through ministry to others will lead to a lifetime of commitment to service.
The students incorporate service as a core value in their lives and see it as the heart of what it means to be a leader in society. This program will provide opportunities to volunteer in the school, parish and community.
Community service learning hours will be held on the school campus in conjunction with the Social Parish Ministry and local community partner.
